Three Reasons Why Petoskey Is A Beautiful Place To Visit

Thinking about traveling up north? Are you looking for a place to visit that has some really beautiful sunsets? Do you know what a Petoskey stone looks like? These are some questions that if you’re thinking about visiting you’ll likely want to know the answer to. Petoskey is a beautiful place especially during the late Spring and Summer months. So if you’re thinking about staying or perhaps just driving by, here are three reasons that could convince you to come see the beauty of Petoskey.

1. Sunsets

Petoskey has some of the most beautiful sunsets. If you can catch a quick glimpse of a Petoskey Sunset over Little Traverse Bay, I highly recommend it.

2. Trails

A couple of the most well known trails in Petoskey are the Bay View Woods Loop as well as the Bear River Trail. If you love taking hikes through the woods and love trees, these are your spots. You’ll most likely find a diverse wildlife, full of Sugar Maple, Paper Birch, and Eastern White Pine. If you want to identify these trees, check out our blog post on how to identify them, it also includes a little guide on the barks!

3. Petoskey Stones

Petoskey stones are a result of large glaciers moving across the globe about 350 million years ago. These glaciers would pick up fossilized coral and distribute them around the lower peninsula of Michigan. You’ll find these rocks all around the lakes of Michigan.

Well there you have it, three reasons for why Petoskey is an absolutely beautiful place to visit. So if you’ve just got done walking the Bay View Woods Loop and you’ve got a hankering to collect Petoskey stones while watching the Sun go down in a beautiful area, you’ve found the place.
